HISTORY OF KHAJJIAR
Khajji Naga Temple
Khajjiar is famous for the popular Khajji Naga shrine dedicated to the serpent god from which the name is believed to have been derived. The temple dates back to the 10th century and is interspaced with different patterns and images on the ceiling and wooden posts.. The image carvings are said to represent the Kauravas who were tied up here in the hideout by the Pandavas. Moreover, Khajjiar has an islet with a small lake surrounding it. The lake is considered to be holy by the locals as legend associated it with Khajinag, the deity in the Khajji temple.
Location and weather
Khajjiar is located in chamba district Himachal Pradesh. It is located between chamba and Dalhousie. As khajjiar is 22km away from chamba and 20 km away from Dalhousie. Khajjiar is 508 km from Delhi. The glade enjoys an alpine climate. cotton clothing for summers and heavy clothing for winters are needed. As in winters (December –march mid) there is heavy snowfall minimum 8 ft. The best time to visit Khajjiar is between March and June.
